I wanted a better method of retaining
the oil seal and sight glass in the tail rotor gearbox.
The ends of the housing are slightly tapered.
First thing was turning a mandrel to clamp the housing
around so the ends of the housing could be trued. It picks up on the
outer bearing saddles. The ends were then faced and centers bored
larger.

Then I machined up two
retainer plates. One for seal and one for sight glass.
Drilled and tapped four holes.

The sight glass is turned around so the
larger diameter sits in the housing against a shoulder and the small
diameter fits it the retainer plate. The seal is now pressed into the
other plate. I also milled a slot the raised boss of the lower casting
for the chip detector/ oil drain flush with the bottom of the housing so
particles wouldn't be held back.

Assembled and ready to install.
